Barcode Scanner — Multi-Format Camera & Image Reader
Scan 1D retail barcodes and 2D codes with your webcam, phone camera, or image upload with instant validation.
Drop an image here
Drag and drop your QR code or barcode image here, or choose a file from your device.
Supports PNG, JPEG, WebP, and BMP up to 10 MB. 100% private in-browser decoding.
GS1 Algorithm Verification Policy
This scanner performs client-side GS1 Modulo-10 check-digit validation. It does not identify retail product names, pricing, or manufacturer ownership without an authoritative catalog database. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by GS1.
Validate GTIN Codes
Calculate check digits or audit existing retail barcodes.
Generate Barcodes
Create sharp vector SVG or PNG barcodes for print and packaging.
Your scan image or camera frames are processed directly on your device. Uploaded files and camera video are never sent to any server, logged, or shared.
How to Use
- Select 'Upload Barcode Image' to choose or drag-and-drop a product photo, packaging screenshot, or barcode image.
- Alternatively, switch to 'Camera / Webcam Scanner' and point your device camera at the physical barcode label.
- Your browser scans the barcode locally using hardware-accelerated detection or web assembly decoders.
- Inspect the decoded numeric value, barcode symbology, and real-time GS1 Modulo-10 check digit verification.
About This Format
1D retail barcodes (such as EAN-13, UPC-A, and EAN-8) encode numerical product identification keys using alternating black bars and white spaces with precise width ratios. Logistics barcodes like Code 128 and ITF-14 encode larger alphanumeric strings and shipping container identifiers.
When scanning in this toolbox, image processing runs 100% locally in your web browser. Neither your image files, camera video streams, nor scanned barcode payloads are ever sent to remote servers.
Validation & Technical Constraints
- Supported 1D standards: EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF / ITF-14.
- Supported 2D standards: QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417.
- Automatic GS1 Modulo-10 check digit validation on scanned retail and logistics codes.
- Maximum image upload size: 10 MB per image; maximum dimension: 4096 × 4096 pixels.
- Decoded web links are treated as unverified text and never opened automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. All barcode detection and decoding takes place entirely on your device inside your browser engine. We never store, log, or transmit your images or scan results.
This scanner validates the mathematical barcode format and GS1 Modulo-10 check digit algorithms. It does not perform commercial product database lookups or identify brand names without an authorized external catalog integration.
The scanner supports EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF / ITF-14), Data Matrix, PDF417, and QR Codes via native browser APIs and fallback decoders.
