Code 128 Barcode

ISO/IEC 15417
Popular

High-density linear symbology encoding full ASCII 128 character set. The universal standard for shipping labels, carton tracking, and warehouse inventory.

Common Applications:
  • E-commerce shipping labels
  • Warehouse bin & pallet tracking

EAN-13 (GTIN-13) Retail

GS1 / ISO/IEC 15420
Popular

Global standard 13-digit product barcode scanned at supermarket and retail checkouts everywhere outside North America.

Common Applications:
  • Retail consumer goods packaging
  • Book ISBN identifiers (Bookland)

UPC-A (GTIN-12) Retail

GS1 / ISO/IEC 15420
Popular

The definitive 12-digit point-of-sale barcode across the United States and Canada. Universal checkout standard for North American retail items.

Common Applications:
  • US & Canadian retail merchandise
  • Grocery store scanner checkouts

Code 39 (3 of 9) Barcode

ISO/IEC 16388
Popular

Rugged alphanumeric industrial symbology widely mandated across automotive, aerospace, defense (LOGMARS), and electronics manufacturing.

Common Applications:
  • Automotive parts manufacturing
  • Military & defense asset tags (LOGMARS)

Data Matrix 2D Code

ISO/IEC 16022
Popular

Ultra-compact two-dimensional matrix symbology capable of encoding high data density in microscopic footprints. Standard for electronics and pharmaceutical serialization.

Common Applications:
  • Direct Part Marking (DPM) on microchips
  • Pharmaceutical serialization & FDA UDI

EAN-8 (GTIN-8) Compact

GS1 / ISO/IEC 15420

Short 8-digit retail barcode designed specifically for small product packages where standard EAN-13 would occupy too much label real estate.

Common Applications:
  • Cosmetics & lipstick tubes
  • Confectionery & candy bars

UPC-E Zero-Suppressed

GS1 / ISO/IEC 15420

Zero-suppressed compact variation of UPC-A compressing 12-digit codes into 8 digits for tiny retail packaging across North America.

Common Applications:
  • Chewing gum packages
  • Single-serve snack packs

ITF-14 (GTIN-14) Shipping

GS1 / ISO/IEC 16390

Heavyweight 14-digit outer carton barcode featuring thick bearer bars that prevent misreads on corrugated cardboard surfaces.

Common Applications:
  • Corrugated shipping master cartons
  • Warehouse pallet outer cases

Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF)

ISO/IEC 16390

High-density continuous numeric symbology that encodes digits in pairs (one in bars, one in spaces). Classic standard for industrial cartons.

Common Applications:
  • Industrial carton identification
  • Ticketing & baggage routing

PDF417 Stacked 2D

ISO/IEC 15438

Stacked two-dimensional linear symbology capable of holding kilobytes of structured data, biometric records, or digital signatures without network access.

Common Applications:
  • Airline boarding passes (BCBP)
  • Driver licenses & national ID cards

GS1 Check Digit Calculator

GS1 Modulo-10 Algorithm

Calculates missing GS1 Modulo-10 verification digits for GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, and GTIN-14 numbers before packaging printing.

Common Applications:
  • Packaging artwork preflighting
  • ERP / inventory SKU data validation

GTIN / EAN / UPC Validator

GS1 Standard Verification

Validates full GTIN strings, verifies mathematical check digit consistency, identifies packaging tier, and checks against GS1 structural rules.

Common Applications:
  • Quality assurance inspection
  • Amazon listing SKU verification
Client-Side Privacy & Standards Guarantee

Generated entirely in your browser without network requests. Renders standard symbology geometry locally — creating a barcode image does not issue, register, or license a GS1 identifier.

How to Use

  1. Choose your barcode symbology (e.g. Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39, or Data Matrix).
  2. Enter your product code, SKU, or serial number in the data input field.
  3. For retail standards (EAN/UPC), the tool automatically validates and computes GS1 check digits.
  4. Adjust sizing, height, margins, or colors under Appearance Settings if desired.
  5. Click 'Download SVG' for high-resolution vector print or 'Download PNG' for digital use.

About This Format

Barcodes are optical, machine-readable representations of data. One-dimensional (1D) linear barcodes, such as Code 128, EAN-13, and UPC-A, vary the widths and spacings of parallel lines to encode characters. Two-dimensional (2D) matrix barcodes, such as Data Matrix and PDF417, encode data horizontally and vertically in compact geometric patterns.

Validation & Technical Constraints

  • Code 128 supports ASCII alphanumeric text and symbols.
  • Code 39 requires uppercase letters, numbers, and supported punctuation (- . $ / + % space).
  • EAN-13 requires 12 or 13 numeric digits with a standard GS1 Modulo-10 check digit.
  • UPC-A requires 11 or 12 numeric digits with a standard GS1 Modulo-10 check digit.
  • Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) requires numeric digits and an even character count.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, provided you own or have licensed an authorized GS1 GTIN/UPC prefix from GS1 for retail distribution. Our tool generates standard-compliant vector SVG barcodes ready for high-resolution commercial printing.

No. This tool generates a barcode image from a number you provide. It does not issue, register, or license GS1 identifiers or company prefixes.

SVG is a resolution-independent vector graphic format. Printing an SVG barcode ensures bar edges remain razor-sharp at any printer resolution (DPI) without anti-aliasing blur that can degrade optical scanner read rates.

No. All barcode calculations, check digit verifications, and vector renderings execute entirely inside your web browser via client-side code.
